Hannah has authored a piece for Courageous Parents Network titled "Finding HOME in the NICU and the Heart." She describes the ways in which our notions of home were challenged and evolved throughout our time with Sage, with the articulate depth and incomparable wisdom that only she can provide.
We sat down with Blyth Lord, founder of Courageous Parents Network, to discuss a breadth of topics including Sage's life, his death, our experience in the NICU, bereavement, and the incomparable value of every parent's intuition. On Monday March 18, we will be sharing Sage's story and our personal experiences at SWHPN 2019 in Orlando, FL along with our dear friends and social workers Marsha Joselow and Nick Purol from PACT (Boston Children's/Dana Farber) to advocate for progressive, nuanced, and individualized approaches to grief work.
Hannah and Eric will be speaking at PACT (Pediatric Advanced Care Team) Rounds, to share Sage's story and give a parent/family perspective on the value of PACT and the experience of living after the loss of a child. This event will be attended by PACT and other staff from both Boston Children's Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
On Sunday June 10, we participated in our second Eversource Walk for Boston Children's Hospital as a part of Team Baby Steps. We walked in memory of our beloved Sage, and also for every baby and family who has spent time or is currently in the NICU. The team raised $2,525.00 this year, all of which will help with resources and support for the staff at 7-North, where Sage spent much of his life.
On Wednesday September 13, we attended the establishment of the Sage Schermerhorn Endowed Chair for Image-Guided Therapy at Boston Children's Hospital. This event marks the appointment of the inauguration of the chairs incumbent Dr. Darren Orbach, MD, PhD.
On Sunday June 11, we were honored to participate in the 2017 Eversource Walk for Boston Children's Hospital as a part of Team Baby Steps. We walked in memory of our beloved Sage, and also for every baby and family who has spent time in the NICU. Together, our team raised $5,221.01 to support the incredible Doctors and Nurses of 7-North, who care for each child with incredible compassion and skill.
